Przymiotniki odmieniają się regularnie i nieregularnie

JENOSYLABOWE

LUB DWUSYLABOWE ZAKOŃCZONE NA : -Y, -ER, -OW, -SOME, -LE

stopień wyższy
- do formy podstawowej przymiotnika należy dodać końcówkę -er

stopień najwyższy
- do formy podstawowej przymiotnika należy dodać końcówkę -est oraz przed wszystkim dodać "the"

1. old older the oldest

2. fast faster the fastest

3. nice nicer the nicest

4. happy happier the happiest

5. narrow narrower the narrowest

6. simple simpler the simplest

7. bitter bitterer the bitterest

WIELOSYLABOWE

stopień wyższy
- przed przymiotnikiem należy dopisać słówko "more"

stopień najwyższy
- przed przymiotnikiem należy dopisać słówko "the most

1. intelligent more intelligent the most intelligent

2. sympathetic more sympathetic the most sympathetic

UWAGA

Jeśli przymiotnik zakończony jest POJEDYŃCZĄ spółgłoską poprzedzoną POJEDYŃCZĄ samogłoską i akcent pada na ostatnią sylabę w wyrazie, to podwajamy ostatnią literkę (spółgłoskę), np.:

big - bigger - the biggest

hot - hotter - the hottest

Jeśli przymiotnik kończy się na -y, to wtedy y usuwamy i w jego miejsce wstawiamy "i"

easy - easier - the easiest
